A peek inside my business

I hope you are doing so well! Today, I'm giving you an inside look into my art business and share what I'm doing differently this year to sell my art online. It's a plan for growth, collaboration, and finding joy in what I do.

The first major focus for me this year is email list growth. You probably know that building a loyal audience of collectors is crucial is you want to sell your work online. And because I’ve been focused on other things the past couple of years - my email list hasn’t grown as much as I would like. So, I'm refocusing on growing my email list using the power of OPAs - a strategy I go into in detail in the free guide you likely downloaded. But for now I’ll just say that it's a strategy based on collaboration - whether it's teaming up with fellow artists, art influencers, or art-related businesses. The goal is to get my work in front of their audiences. This not only expands my reach but also brings fresh eyes to my art and, of course, grows my email list.

So my second focus for the year is really examining efficiency in my business. As artists, we wear many hats – creator, marketer, manager, and more. It can be overwhelming. This year, I've decided to take a thorough look at what parts of my business could be running more efficently. Why? Because I want to focus on what brings me the most joy and what's sustainable in the long run.

Here's the thing – not every aspect of running an art business sparks joy. For me, it's the creative process (both in the studio and in the business) and connecting with my collectors and program members. But you can’t run a business by ignoring all the other stuff that needs to get done. So instead, I'm streamlining other areas. Maybe it's saying no to smaller projects, or fully outsourcing my printing, or hiring help to take over some of the tasks I don’t need to be doing myself. The goal is to create space for what truly matters and allows me to thoroughly enjoy the artistic journey.

So there you have it – my two major focuses for selling art online this year. Growing my email list through collaborations and simplifying or creating efficiency inside my business. It's all about creating a balance that allows me to thrive as an artist while connecting with a broader audience.

I'll let you know how it goes!

Thanks for being here!

All the best,

Jennifer
