Art Business Consultation - 90 minutes
Five years ago I would’ve laughed in your face if you told me I’d be offering business consultations for artists right now. I was part of the group of people who thought artists were limited to scraping by and working day jobs to support their passion. I didn’t know any successful artists, and my goal was to find a part-time job that would allow me to paint on my days off.
Thank goodness that way of thinking didn’t last long. After deciding to give myself the gift of an online art course my eyes were opened, and I realized that I couldn’t let my art be a side hustle any more. I was determined to find people who were making a good living from their art, and to learn from them and beside them. And I did. From art courses to business courses to an incredible mastermind, the last three years have been a serious bootcamp of learning; coming up to speed with marketing, making good work, and all of the many facets of running a successful business. And it is paying off. Last year I brought in as much money as I ever did as a graphic designer. And let me tell you, that feels pretty good to say.
I’ve also learned that part of being an artist is the constant evolution from total beginner to teacher. That sharing your knowledge is just as an important part of the job as sharing your art. And that the right mentor can change the course of your path.
And so I am offering a limited number of one-on-one consultations to help my fellow artists find their footing on their own path. Possible topics of conversation may include:

Each consultation will take place via phone call or Google Hangouts. Upon purchase I will send you a questionnaire to fill out (so I can prepare for our discussion) and some possible meeting times to choose from. You will also receive a copy of my Artist Checklist (a no-frills checklist of the things you need to do to grow your business in those early years). Our first call will last one hour and will go over whatever topics are of most importance to you. After our call I will send you an email with any notes or references, and your next steps to take. We will follow up in 4-6 weeks with another half-hour call. This is our chance to check in with your progress and for you to ask any questions that may have come up since our first session.
Five years ago I wish I had found someone to answer my questions and guide me through some of the struggle and frustration of charting this path. My hope is that I can save you some of that confusion and help you move forward confidently!
