Sometimes you have to stop yourself and acknowledge how lucky you are. That you are living a magical life. That at any time you might find yourself in a scene right out of a movie. Like the summer I spent three weeks studying impressionist art in Nice, France. Some new friends and I discovered there was a music festival happening nearby so we ran to the market to pack a picnic (complete with baguette and boxed wine) and hopped on the local bus to see if we could get tickets. We found ourselves at the Arènes et Jardins de Cimiez, an ancient ampitheater surrounded by olive groves, basking in the sunshine drinking wine and listening to Santana. This painting captures the magic and mood of that day. The silvery green of olive trees, the collective contentment of the crowd, the buoyancy of the music, and our delight in experiencing it all.
