Inspiration:
In first grade I was fairly popular. It was short lived, but that was the year my mom taught at my school - which for some reason gave me a bit of clout. I enjoyed my popularity and used it to gain access to the very exclusive Unicorn Club - a group of 5 or 6 slightly more popular first grade girls who spent their recesses and lunch time banded together doing who knows what. But when Nikki S. invited me to join them I couldn’t wait to find out. The answer, as it turns out, is that they were pretending to be unicorns. And as my first act as the newest member of the Unicorn Club the girls informed me that I needed to select my official unicorn color. The catch? I was not allowed to choose the color of any other unicorns already in the club which eliminated purple, pink, and turquoise. And really, are there any other colors worth being for a 6 year old girl? Well, not wanting to settle for yellow (a very childish color in my first grade opinion) I announced that I would be the CLEAR unicorn. And let me tell you, that idea blew their little unicorn minds. And from that day forward we frolicked and laughed, Clear Unicorn in the lead, until the very last day of first grade.
This colors in this painting remind me of the most neutral & grown-up version of my favorite 6-year-old palette. Like a magic light-hearted frolic through the grass in the most sophisticated way possible.
